Customer Reviews about Rafa Royal Air Forces Association Shoreham-By-Sea:

  • As the founder chairman of Shoreham by Sea branch I am very proud of the achievements in raising much needed cash for the WingsAppeal, it is a sad fact that many who worked hard on the Airshow, were disappointed that the Major source of income is lost, and it came at the same time of the cessation of RAF Waddington show, thus the Association was hit with a double Whammy...….. Many of the founder members of Shoreham branch like Stanley Ball, Roger Simon (French by birth) MICK Eady, Harrold Guy Meadows DFC, Alan Mills, Iveagh Sargeant, Joyce Morris, Doreen Whyatt, Christine Cameron, Marjorie Avery, were pleased to join RAFA when our branch was founded in 1985. Those people had experienced the second world war, and had survived, Alan Mills had been taken POW and escaped to return safely to England via Gibraltar, Mick Eady a flight Engineer on 35sqd Lancasters went on 65 missions over Europe more than twice of a usual tour of 30 trips. Roger Simon Free French Air Force , help shoot down V1 Doodle bugs in a Spitfire at wars end. Joyce Morris, was on duty in Flying Control when RAF Tangmere was severely bombed she bravely remained at her post and was commended by the Commanding Officer, Guy Meadows, was captain in the left hand seat of a 101 Sqd Lancaster, Special Duties and carried out highly secret work, which remained secret until 1986. Bertie Sallis was an electrician and part of the team which armed the Dambuster bouncing bomb , on the night of the Dams raid. So our wartime RAF members deserve all the praise given by Sir Winston Churchill in his famous speeches.
